What is solar power?

Solar power is energy derived from the Sun’s radiation. every beam of light that we can convert into electricity is another step in reducing our dependence on polluting fossil fuels. Each year more and more people are installing solar panels in their homes, factories, schools, colleges and saving their electricity bills and making environment pollution free.

What are solar panels?

Solar panels are active solar devices that convert sunlight into electricity. the solar panel works by allowing photons, or particles of light, to knock electrons free from atoms, generating a flow of electricity. Solar panels comprise several small units called photovoltaic cells. These cells linked together make up a solar panel.

How do solar panels work?

A typical rooftop solar plant comprises solar panels, solar inverters, and mounting structures, and batteries, if needed. As light hits the solar panels, the solar radiation is converted into direct current (DC). The direct current flows from the panels and is converted by the solar inverter into alternating current (AC) used by local electric utilities. The plant can be connected to the grid or can be designed to be off-grid.

Type Of Solar Panels?

A grid-connection will allow you to save more money with solar panels through better efficiency rates, net metering, plus lower equipment and installation costs. You can save more money with net metering. 1. Your solar panels will often generate more electricity than what you are capable of consuming. With net metering, homeowners can put this excess electricity onto the utility grid instead of storing it themselves with batteries. 2. The utility grid is a virtual battery. The electric power grid is in many ways also a battery, without the need for maintenance or replacements, and with much better efficiency rates. 3. In other words, more electricity (and more money) goes to waste with conventional battery systems. Additional perks of being grid-tied include access to backup power from the utility grid (in case your solar system stops generating electricity for one reason or another).

To ensure access to electricity at all times, off-grid solar plants require battery storage and a backup generator. 1. Off-grid solar plants can be cheaper than extending power lines in certain remote areas. 2. Power failures on the utility grid do not affect off-grid solar plants. Energy self-sufficiency is also a form of security. 3. Power failures on the utility grid do not affect off-grid solar plants. On the flip side, batteries can only store a certain amount of energy, and during cloudy times, being connected to the grid is actually where the security is. You would need to install a backup generator to be prepared for these kinds of situations.

Hybrid solar plants combine the best from grid-tied and off-grid solar plants. 1. These solar plants can either be described as off-grid solar with utility backup power, or grid-tied solar with extra battery storage. 2. Less expensive than off-grid solar plants. Hybrid solar Plants are less expensive than off-grid solar plants. Off-peak electricity from the utility company is cheaper than diesel. 3. You don`t really need a backup generator, and the capacity of your battery bank can be downsized

  1. Dear Sir/Madam,
I was a pure science student. I am very much interested to start a business with solar system. Would you please guide me for it? How can I start up? Where can I get good quality solar pannels,Charge controller,Batteries,Inverter etc etc in a chip price?
