FAQs

Will there be free service till then?

Yes, as per the agreed terms and conditions with the customer.

With cost of the solar panel, it seems I will be able to get back my investment only after 6 years.
Yes you get your money back just in six years and then you enjoy free electricity for rest of the plants life, which is expected to be around 30 years, with 25 years warrantee. Over a lifetime, the effective rate of electricity comes out around just Rs 3 per unit after considering all types of costs (interest cost, AMC, depreciation etc.)
Installation ? Maintenance?
Installation charges are included in the price and maintenance charge for a certain period (typically 35 years) are also included. Everything else shall be serviced as per manufacturer warrantee of the
components.
Subsidy ? And who arranges?
We shall offer you end to end service. You need not deal with the electricity department for the net metering approval, installation, and associated hassles; neither need you to run for getting subsidy. We take care of all this.
Cost of system

5 KW installation costs around 4.15  lakhs. After subsidy, it costs around 3.25 lakhs.

If two or 3 ACs are added in summer, what KVA is needed.
This is not the right way to look at the solar plant. Our objective should not be to run ACs purely on the solar energy during peak period. Such a system shall be costly and impractical. The objective is to generate enough solar energy throughout the year which is supplied to the grid and you accumulate credits every month in your bills. Every settlement period, all accumulated credits shall get compensated against the excess power that you draw from the grid. This is what the government net metering system does.
For only fan and lights in a three bedroom house, what KVA is needed?
This is purely based on the load requirements. However, these requirements may just be fulfilled in 1 kW plant. See answer to Q9 also.
What is the cost of a 5 KVA panel?
5 KW grid connected plant costs roughly 4  – 4.25 lakhs. However, after subsidy, it shall cost you around 3.25 lakhs.
What is the care that the system needs?

Periodic cleaning of the panels shall be required so that no dust is accumulated on them.

If my whole house is running on solar, will I still get electricity bill?

Yes, you will continue to get a bill, however, it will only be for the excess power that you draw from the grid, realising a savings on the power you have generated through the roof top plant. This is ensured via the Net Meter that is installed for a grid connected system. For a completely Off Grid system, you will not get any bill. However, this is costly and requires more maintenance because of huge battery requirements.

Can I sell the excess solar power generated to the existing grid? Who will adjust and pay for it? And at what frequency?
Yes, the ON Grid plant is designed to supply excess generation to the grid. As per the net metering concept, any power generated from the plant gets adjusted from your bill, leading to savings. Under the subsidy program, you can only install a plant with 80% capacity of your sanctioned load.
Does the system store excess electricity? How much?
ON Grid Plant does not store any energy locally, but supplies all the generated electricity directly to the Grid (external supply/main line). The Hybrid and Off Grid Plants store energy in batteries.One KW plant generates 4.6 units a day, and can charge two 150 aH batteries sufficient for 5 hour back up to run 4 Fans (75 W each)4 Tube lights (40 W each), 5 CFLs (15 W each), and a TV (100 W)
Can the system replace the inverter?

Yes. A hybrid or OFF Grid system can fulfil all your back up requirements

Does this system work along with the regular electricity in the house?
Yes, the ON Grid plant does not affect your indoor connections in anyway, except for the electricity meter. In case of Grid connected plant, your current meter shall be replaced with a ‘Net Meter’, which account for the generation and consumption.  You may want to use a Hybrid Plant if you have special backup requirements in addition to your current set up.  However, we recommend only Grid connected plant for minimum cost and maximum benefits.
What happens if system doesn’t work? Who does the servicing? What are annual AMC charges?
The plant, specifically the grid connected plant, requires minimal maintenance. However, the Solar panel require periodic cleaning to avoid accumulation of dust, which should be taken care of by the user. We do periodic maintenance and servicing of the plant. All components are serviced as per the warrantee and agreed terms and conditions
What is the guarantee period for each component?
Solar panels come with a warrantee of 25 years. Similarly, Inverters and batteries come with their
manufacturer’s warrantee.
Are these ISI certified products?

Yes. MNRE empanels only those products meeting its stringent guidelines.

Which company is supplying the components?
There are number of reputed providers of solar components. Under the government of India’s
subsidy programs, it is mandated to use only MNRE approved manufacturers. To promote indigenous
manufacturers, MNRE allows subsidy only on Indian providers. Thus, we use panels from leading
Indian providers such as Vikram / PV Power Tech / Waaree etc.
Similarly, there are variety of providers for inverters such as Enertech, Statcon etc, and the batteries
are provided by Exide / Luminous / Su-Kam etc
What are the components for the solar panel system for home use?
A typical roof top solar plant comprises
Solar Photo Voltaic Modules/ PV Modules / Solar Panels
Solar Inverter (Grid Connected / Hybrid / Off Grid)
Solar Battery (Optional, Not required with Grid Connected Plant)
Mounting Structures / Fixtures / Cables  and other accessories
What is a Roof Top Solar Plant
It is a power plant comprising solar photo voltaic modules (PV Modules) that convert incident
light rays (sun light) into electricity.
